Our skies are full of untapped intelligence. Hyperspectral satellites capture rich, layered data about soil, vegetation, and environmental conditions.  But making sense of that complexity remains a challenge. Turning those millions of spectral readings into clear, “where should I act next?” insights isn’t easy, especially for farmers who rely on fast, practical decisions rather than technical analysis. That’s the problem the founders of Hyades set out to solve.

Meet the team behind Hyades, one of eighteen ventures taking part in the Sprout Accelerator Spring25 Cohort. Venture lead Ashin Alex brings a background in applied physics and product innovation. Sam Kurian leads AI development, specialising in model design and automation, while Ayush Varma focuses on remote sensing and geospatial systems. Together, they combine deep technical expertise with a shared vision, to make hyperspectral intelligence accessible and useful for everyone working with the land.

Instead of building another farm management platform, Hyades is developing an intelligent hyperspectral AI foundational model designed to power the platforms that already exist.

This model doesn’t just read hyperspectral images,  it understands them. Using cross-contextual learning, it incorporates environmental covariables such as weather, soil moisture, and topography to interpret spectral signatures with high accuracy. This means that where raw hyperspectral images might only show patterns, Hyades can explain what those patterns mean in real, agronomic terms.

Hyades partners with agricultural analytics companies, farm management software providers, and cooperatives, who can plug this model directly into their systems. The result is automated, intelligent monitoring of vast land areas, providing instant alerts when attention is required on specific zones. Farmers and farm managers no longer need to sift through data; their existing dashboards can now automatically flag nutrient deficiencies, stress regions, or soil imbalances, powered by Hyades’ model in the background.

The team learned early that collecting more data isn’t the answer, interpreting it intelligently is. Their foundational model is trained on globally sourced hyperspectral datasets and validated with real-world soil and crop measurements. By understanding how multiple environmental factors influence the spectral response of soil and plants, Hyades delivers a deeper, more context-aware layer of insight than conventional multispectral analytics can offer.

This approach enables true precision agriculture at scale, transforming complex satellite data into clear, automated guidance that fits seamlessly into the digital tools farmers already use.

Now, as part of Sprout Accelerator’s Spring25 Cohort, Hyades is focused on expanding its hyperspectral AI ecosystem through partnerships with satellite data providers and agricultural technology companies. Rather than competing with existing farm analytics platforms, Hyades enhances them, providing the AI backbone that powers smarter, faster, and more sustainable decisions. Ultimately, the team’s goal is simple: to make advanced spectral intelligence available wherever it’s needed, from local farms to global agribusiness networks.

Hyades is building the intelligent core of the next generation of agricultural technology, turning complex hyperspectral data into simple, actionable insights, one alert at a time.
