Horticulture New Zealand's growth strategy to double the value of the industry to $10 billion by 2020, is exciting news for innovation in New Zealand.
In March 2015, Horticulture New Zealand released its growth strategy to double the value of the industry by 2020. The industry is valued at $4.2 billion, and wants to reach a value of $10 billion in the next 5 years. The strategy outlines the actions required for the industry to deliver on its goal. The key strategies that stood out were:
- The need to develop future leaders
- Increase productivity by adding value to products through increased investment;
- Develop intellectual property by strengthening partnerships between science/technology and industry.
